Conflict Free Diamonds and Ethical Jewelry!

Sunday, May 21, 2017 4:50:59 AM America/New_York

Today there is a lot of talk about conflict free diamonds and ethical engagement rings . VintageDiamondRing.com takes this very seriously, as we all should. Conflict free diamonds , or as some may call them "blood diamonds," are illegally traded diamonds that have been mined within the last 40-50 years. These diamonds help to finance wars in Africa, including Angola and Sierra Leone. VintageDiamondRing.com only curates antique engagement rings , and estate engagement rings, which feature antique diamonds that predate this time period. Our jewelry is completely conflict free and ethical. We do not source any diamonds, or gemstones. Sourced gemstones may be used to finance civil wars, which also entails digging up our precious earth by using underage children to mine them. We applaud the Kimberley process trying to curb blood diamonds, yet in our opinion, there isn't any fool proof way to guarantee your diamonds and gemstones are ethical and conflict free. We want to help save lives, and the earth. One important way to do that is by purchasing vintage jewelry. We have been doing that for over 30 years.

Sourcing Diamonds and Consignment

Sunday, May 21, 2017 3:50:19 AM America/New_York

To source or not to source, that is the question! A big controversy today is all about sourcing, and ethical diamonds. Obtaining diamonds and gemstones has never been a problem in the jewelry industry. Sourcing diamonds and gemstones is not an exact science. No one, or any group, can say with 100 percent certainty that all the diamonds and gemstones they are marketing, and selling, are 100 percent conflict free. While most sites, and stores, may have their heart in the right place, they can not say that all of the gemstones and diamonds they offer are ethical. VintageDiamondRing.com does not source any diamonds or gemstones. Gemstones, and semiprecious gemstones, are almost impossible to track. In addition, they may have ethical questions. Our collection of antique diamonds (mine cuts, rose cuts and european cuts), gemstones, antique engagement rings, and vintage jewelry is always purchased from estates. Therefore, they are ethical. We don't sell any type of reproductions or "antique style" rings which use new diamonds or gemstones. Our collection of engagement rings include gemstones such as aquamarines, garnets, and opals from past eras such as the Victorian, Retro, Art Deco and Edwardian when there was war to finance, or any young children to force into labor.

J.E Caldwell, Lambert Bros Jewelers and Belais Manufacturers

Sunday, May 14, 2017 8:58:52 AM America/New_York

Websters dictionary states that the word, synonymous, is a like in meaning or identifiable. When we think of Belais jewelers we think of white gold, and with Lambert Bros. we think of the pear shape diamond and Liz Taylor. Belais Manfacturing Company was started by David Belais in the late 1800's and lasted until the early 1940's. They were one of the earliest manufacturers of white gold. Belais applied for a patent in the early 1900's for white gold. His gold was a mixture of the alloys white gold, zinc, and nickle. The brilliancy of this was that when the war came to fruition, platinum wasn't being used, so this white gold became the standard. Belais applied for the patent in 1918, called white gold, and it was granted in 1920. Belais used beautiful mine cut diamonds and european cut diamonds in solitaire engagement rings flanked by stunning filigree and floral engravings. They also loved gemstones, and semi precious gemstones including aquamarines with classic milgrain engravings. Another wonderful jeweler was the Lambert Brothers of NYC. They came into existence in the late 1800's. Lambert Brothers jewelers was started in the late 1800's with August Lambert, and his brother, making beautiful engagement rings and jewelry. The tradition continued into the 1970's with the grandson, Henry, at the helm. Henry then sold Lambert Bros. to the Zale corporation. In 1979 Henry purchased the famed 69.42 carat pear shape diamond that was given to Liz Taylor from Richard Burton for 3 million dollars. Here are four beautiful antique engagement rings! J.E Caldwell and Co was synonymous for beautiful art deco jewelry and art deco engagement rings and diamond engagement rings using masterful filigree engravings and european cut diamonds. Caldwell partnered James Bennet to form Bennet and Caldwell in the mid 1800's and after Bennet's death years later , he founded in the J.E Caldwell and Co.

Our Legacy!

Saturday, May 13, 2017 2:16:24 PM America/New_York

Legacy, simply said, is what we leave behind. What will be our legacy? I will always remember the wonderful memories I have of my mother, especially when she would go out on a Saturday night, and put on her Art Deco ring. Or when she would go to a beautiful affair, and she would wear her Art Deco diamond bracelet. When I put on my mom's antique ring, or Art Deco bracelet, it takes me back to a different time. It makes me feel special. In some ways, I actually feel like she's with me. Thats what's so special about Art Deco jewelry; the special memories that will always be with you, and your family. The beautiful memories your children will have when you pass it on to them. Each Art Deco engagement ring has its own story, or journey, and nothing you will wear can embody your personal journey more. So let's start your legacy with a beautiful antique ring from the Art Deco, Victorian, or Edwardian era.

Simple Engagement Rings

Tuesday, May 2, 2017 2:14:25 PM America/New_York

It all seemed so simple before. We have heard that statement many times, but that's exactly what makes antique engagement rings timeless. We all love the beauty of an antique solitaire diamond ring, with filigree and milgrain engravings. Even a mine cut diamond residing in a bezel setting. Could it be the beauty of different metals, like platinum or the gentle warmness of rose gold. Before computer simulations, and castings, there was the dedication of master jewelers sitting behind a bench for weeks on end, during the Art Deco and Edwardian eras, working endlessly to create timeless rings we can still enjoy. Here are five estate engagement rings we think you will love!
