The Legendary Bulgari
Today we take a look at one of our favorite jewelers: the famed Italian brand Bulgari. Started in the late 1800's by Sotirios Bulgari (born Voulgaris, 1857-1932), the company is still owned by the family, having been passed on from generation to generation – first to his two sons, and then to his grandchildren: Nicola and Marina. In 1976 Marina left the firm and created her own brand the very next year, the now-renowned Marina B.

By the 1980's Bulgari was widely known to the public for its ancient coin jewelry, large cabochon and semi precious gemstones. However, they remain best known within the jewelry trade for their purchase of large antique engagement rings, vintage jewelry and large precious gems – including Columbian Muzo emeralds, Kashmir sapphires and Burma rubies. The firm continues on today with many different lines of jewelry and perfume – our current favorite being the Serpenti bracelet collection!

Nicola Bulgari is also currently very much into collecting antique and vintage cars. Having found a wonderful car restorer in Pennsylvania, he has been collecting vintage Buicks, purchasing cars throughout the world and storing them here in the US.
