Art Deco Engagement Rings

The Art Deco period began in the early 1920's, in France, and lasted through 1935. It's influence, however, lasted throughout the 1960's, and even has an influence in jewelry today. The designs during the art deco era were of bold colors, sharp lines and dramatic geometric shapes. This was different than the jewelry of the preceding Art Nouveau era which had a more natural seamless feel. Cartier, Van Cleef and Arpels, and Tiffany are among the most influential jewelry designers of this period, with their artistic diamond bracelets, sapphire pendants, and more. Diamonds were very popular along with rubies, sapphires, emeralds, and black onyx to create the geometric, and symmetric, looks of this period.
